ARGOLIS. Epidauros. Antoninus Pius, 138-161. Diassarion (Bronze, 23 mm, 8.58 g, 11 h). ΑΝΤΩ -ΝΕΙΝΟC ΑΥΓ Laureate head of Antoninus Pius to right. Rev. ΙΕΡΑC [ΕΠΙΔΑ]ΥΡΟΥ Asklepios seated left on throne, stretching his right hand over the head of a snake coiled to left before him, and holding a long scepter with his left; all within tetra style temple with Corinthian capitals and a plinth at about 2/5 of the height of each column; pediment filled with two snakes flanking a poppy. BCD Peloponnesos 1274. BMC 29 = NCP, pl. L, v = Price & Trell 217 and fig. 355 (same reverse die). RPC 4637. Rare. Bold and attractive with an olive green patina. Good very fine.
